The third national conference of the homeschooling parents will be held this year on 6-8 September. The conference will be in a small Rhodopen village close to Smolian. If you have interest for the forthcoming event you may contact me on this address: admin@homeschoolingbg.com .

I offer to your attention some of the accents in the coming conference:

Lecture Part:

-         The conference will begin with an open history lesson in honor of the Unification National Holiday in memory of 6^th Sept. 1885, when the Principality of Bulgaria was united with Eastern Rumelia.

-         We will talk about the process of organization of the home school and about what motivates us to do what we do.

-         The home education will be taken up as a economically winning investment.

-         One of the lectures will be dedicated to the law framework concerning the education in Bulgaria.

Discussions:

We will discuss in the evenings of 6^th and 7^th September the topics: Work, co-operation and mutual assistance during the education of our children at home and The challenge to educate our children at home: our successes and failures.

Children Activities

      The children that are present at the conference will be occupied with many plays, competitions and open lessons. Here are some of those:

– Find logical solution competition – the problems will be divided according age, and the child will gain points when he or she finds the solution. After that the child will be able to choose a prize in accordance with his/her total points. The prizes will be books, copy-books, pencils and etc.

– How to assemble a computer – disassembling of a computer and showing of its parts, and assembling.

– Building of a city – with constructors, building blocks, cars and etc.

– Shaping of forest animals – out of plasticine, fir cones and leaves.

– Football and other games

– Survival into the forest – scout lesson for lending of first aid, forest orientation, how to survive if we get lost in the forest and what is the necessary mountain equipment.

         The organization of the homeschooling parents in Germany http://www.netzwerk-bildungsfreiheit.de/ informed us in one of their last letters that September is declared Home Education Month. The 15^th of September is announced this year for World Day of the Freedom for Education.

In this connection the homeschooled children in France will make a giant picnic in Paris on 10^th September 2007. The homeschoolers from England, children and parents alike, will start a token bonfire in London to proclaim the freedom in the choice and mode of education for all in the world. There will be a discussion on the subject “Freedom in the education” in Vien on 7^th September.

         Within the framework of this year’s conference we will participate also with an action related to the freedom for the education. In the morning of 7^th September our children will make asphalt drawings on the topic “I learn at home”. The drawings of the little artists will be uploaded on this site after the conference. Thus we will participate in the efforts to bring the subject of the home-education of the children to the focus of the public discussions and to make it more popular.
